M. Goldish

Sheep are rather bashful,
Sheep are rather shy.
I asked a sheep the reason
but it wouldn't say why.

Baa, baa, black sheep
Have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full.
One for the master,
And one for the dame,
And one for the little boy
Who lives down the lane.

Donkey, Donkey,
Old and gray
Open your mouth
And gently bray;
Lift your ears
And blow your horn,
To wake the world
This sleepy morn.

If I had a donkey that wouldn't go.
Would I beat him? Oh, no, no.
I'd put him in the barn and give him some corn.
The best little donkey that ever was born.

Horsey horsey don't you stop
Just let your feet go clippetty clop
The tail goes swish and the wheels go round
Giddy up, we're homeward bound

J. Prelutsky

I’m usually a speedy horse.
Today I’ very slow.
I’m hardly making headway
As along the road I go.
I’m slower than a tortoise
Or a sloth atop a tree.
My rider has decided
That he ought to carry me.

M.  Goldish

What bearded animal helps on the farm?
The goat!
What friendly creature is loaded with charm?
The goat!
Who can produce both milk and wool?
The goat!
Who grows long horns like a bull?
The goat!
What creature can mow your lawn,
Eating the grass until it's gone?
What animal can you always count on?
The goat!

I never saw a purple cow.
I never hope to see one.
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I'd rather see than be one!

(Tune: This little piggy)

This little cow eats grass,
This little cow eats hay.
This little cow drinks water.
This little cow runs away.
And this little cow does nothing,
But lie and sleep all day.
MOO!

How come a cow
Never says "Ow!"
Whenever there's milking to do?
It doesn't say "Ow!"
For it pleases the cow,
So instead, the cow says "Moo!"

J. Prelutsky

A greedy and ambitious cow
Determined she would graze
On the fields for miles around
She graze for days and days.
She finished every blade of grass,
The land is barren now.
The cow was in a meadow-
The meadow’s in that cow.

M. Goldish

Behold the pig!
It's very big!
Its color pink
Is nice, I think!
Its tail's a beaut,
So curly cute!
And on the farm,
It oinks with charm!

M.  Burnham

"It is time for my piggies to go to bed,"
The nice, big, fat mother pig said.
"So I will count them first to see
If they have all come back to me.
One little piggie, two little piggies,
Three little piggies dear.
Four little piggies, five little piggies.
Yes, they are all here!
Why, they are the cutest piggies alive.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5!"

Where are you going to, you little pig?
'I'm leaving my mother, I'm growing so big!'
So big, you young pig. So young, so big!
What! leaving your mother, you foolish young pig?
Where are you going to, you little pig?
I've got a new spade, and I'm going to dig!'
To dig, little pig! A little pig dig!
Well, I never saw a pig with a spade, that could dig!
Where are you going to, you little pig?
'Why I'm going to have a nice ride in a gig!'
In a gig, little pig! What! a pig in a gig!
Well, I never yet saw a pig ride in a gig!
Where are you going, you little pig?
'I'm going to the barber's to buy me a wig.'
A wig, little pig! A pig in a wig!
Why, whoever before saw a pig in a wig?
Where are you going, you little pig?
'I'm going to the ball to dance a fine jig!'
A jig, little pig! A pig dance a jig!
Well, I never before saw a pig dance a jig!

The cock's on the housetop blowing his horn;
The bull's in the barn a-threshing of corn;
The maids in the meadows are making of hay;
The ducks in the river are swimming away.
